Ok I just wanted to say I quite buying Chinese food products at these stores because I just don't know what the h... these guys are putting in their products these days. This is a Chinese newspaper http://www.sina.com/ It tells you sometimes what is going on. This is a Japanese newspaper and it also tells you what is going on. Read todays print. http://www.asahi.com/english/
I think you will start looking more where your food is coming from at the store from now on.

What amazes me is that China is able to track every freakin' foreigner in the country and what they are doing constantly (I have a friend who lives in China), monitor the internet traffic for the country, track the financial records of hundreds of millions of people - but they cannot control what is going on in their factories. I am guessing that they really did not care as long as the issues were minor and only effected foreigners. This is big though and hurting thousands of their own people, so something will finally be done...

I actually have a "Thomas the Train" wood train car sitting on my desk right now that we had to remove from my sons train set because of lead paint.

I'm more than a little unhappy about this stuff....

denverdave, there is a saying here overseas that the wealthy chinese don't eat chinese produced food. how true it is, I don't know. If you check out the link with the japanese newspaper you'll see that there is a lot of truth to the above saying.

don't buy chinese food products at them dollar rama stores in the US. stay away from:

honey
canned fruits
peanuts
canned vegetables
cookies made in china
