Stopped at the GC in Greensboro, NC on the way to Nags Head and found two acoustics that I really liked. Mrs. P gave me the go ahead, but I decided to wait until we were on our way home.

One was a new Seagull. The other was a used Takamine. Mrs. P pointed me toward the Tak.

When we stopped on the way back, the Seagull had been sold. The Tk was still there. So, I bought it.

EAN10C. Solid Cedar top, solid Mahogany back. Nice preamp. Sounds great unplugged. Got it along with an Alvarez case and a Keyser capo (which I only found once we got home) for 499 + tax.

Here's a youtube review of it.

I often why someone would give up a nice guitar, maybe it was a trade in for another guitar

I've played a couple guitars from that series ('EAN') and they were quite nice! I'm looking forward to seeing it in person in a few weeks!

Congrats!

will the new acoustic dethrone the POS zombie Fender? inquiring minds want to know.

HNGD!
I likes teh Tak's.

I had a sweet early 80's 12-string that I let get away. Huge regret.
Never lend a guitar to a drugie brother-in-law. Pure stupidity on my part.

I'm guessing it's for the recent uptick in acoustic shows for him and Lino. The zombie Fender is legendary....

That happens to be the exact same model and guitar that is my main guitar for gigging. I have countless hours and many indented frets on this puppy.

Recommendation- get yourself a feedback buster if your going to use it live and plugged in. Takamine uses crystals in their better acoustic pickups that takes care of that bridge flat peizio sound, but the feedback is easy to generate.

It's going to be my live acoustic for sure. I'm sure it'll end up on some recordings too, though I'm never gonna retire the POS Zombie Fender. :o

You are right on the money.

I already have a feedback buster, I just need to dig it out. I was pretty amazed when I plugged it in at Guitar Center. I just plugged into a little Fender G-Dec amp to make sure the electronics worked and I told Mrs. P not to worry if it sounded like crap because the amp wasn't meant for an acoustic guitar....but it sounded really good even through that. Probably gonna plug it into the PA at our gig tomorrow to see what it sounds like through the whole system. :)

Just shaved about 1/16" off the saddle to bring the action down a hair. Got the action down to about where the zombie Fender is, and it still sounds great and every note rings true with no buzz. Should be good to go for the gig tomorrow night. :aok:
