..just a short track to get used to working with these plug-ins in Reaper. It's not a composition as such, just a few riffs strung together over a Zep'esqe beat. I think. :o

Any comments on the sound welcome :)

Drums sound really good, although the cymbals are back a bit for my taste.

What about GR4? Amp, pedals, based off a preset, etc?

Thanks!..I just used the Marshall "Jump" amp on the Distorted preset and added the Studio Reverb "Nice Room"..Les Paul for the main riff, and Strat for the lead guitar parts..exactly the same amp setup for the Strat, but with the Twin Delay added.

I'm really liking Addictive Drums I have to say..excellent customer service too. I asked if they had a demo version of the Metal ADPak available, and they let me have one (which isn't listed in their shop) I did buy the main software and the Retro ADPak though..so have spent a fair bit with them..but still...they also just let me download a bunch of MIDI files for free with really good Funk and Metal grooves.

The presets in Guitar Rig are incredibly good, especially in GR4. Yeah, they have some showy pieces but about 90% of the time you can pick a preset and not have to do much, if any tweaking, unless you want more crazy effects or something. I think the AC Box is easily my favourite. Also, if you run it in HQ mode the top end is a bit smoother, though it does almost double the CPU usage.

I dunno much about Addictive Drums since I'm a Battery user, but they had a nice feel, especially on those tom hits. :thu:

Did you buy Reaper, if so, is the price fair. Audacity has a new Beta out now, I downloaded it ,but haven't tried it out yet. Hope it it works, something to do with lame encoder and dragging, that I don't know how to do :(

I think that Reaper is amazingly cheap at $50..if it was more expensive, people would probably take it more seriously than they do. It does everything I need it to do. You can download it for free without any restrictions whatsoever, other than a start up screen reminding you to to buy it if you like it.

The lame encoder is to do with mp3 conversion and in Reaper, you need to make sure it's installed in the main Reaper folder..not sure about Audacity.

Sounds great! I'll need to listen on big speakers once I get to work but I'm digging it. I also like the feel of your guitar part rhythmically against the drums.

Thanks Mark!..I've been listening to "Presence" a lot..so there's some stuff er, borrowed, from Page/Bonham and how they play on that album. :o..I don't think people talk much about Page's rhythm sense, but especially on the records, he had some seriously good guitar grooves..mind you, that rhythm section helps. :o

I'm not actually sure how...I got them from within my account at their site..and they've all got .xpak as the file extension..which you can't open unless you have the AD software..:idk:..I'll play around and see if I can extract them somehow..

Mo, what interface are you using with GR4? Are there any latency issues when monitoring?

I'm using GR's own "Session" interface..I believe it's been discontinued. No latency issues at all with it..it was pretty cheap as well, about £70..
