Yea, a really nice guy. Saw him at a small venue. He had to walk down our aisle to get to the stage. He stopped to shake everyone's hand and reached in his pocket and gave me a bunch of picks. I didn't watch the video posted, but if you get a chance, check out the Austin City Limits video. I taped it (in pretty low quality) when it originally aired. :thu:

I've seen Eric three times and he brings it live. What a great guitar player! Plus a friend of mine had backstage passes for one of his shows and said he was a very humble, very nice man in person...

I ran into my wifes little brother at a EJ concert before my wife and I were married, he gave me her number and the rest is history...
I think I'm going find him and punch him >:(
The concert was good, he played his 335 for the better part of the concert, but everything was uncannily like the studio albums...I think he's a robot ???

I am a pretty huge Eric Johnson fan :)
I saw him in about 1989-90 open for Joe Satriani at Irvine Meadows. What I remember was his set sounded incredible but when they got together to jam at the end of the night (with Vivian Campbell whose band "Riverdogs" opened the show) his "jamming" just sounded like he was playing licks out of his songs instead of improvising over the blues and blues-rock style songs that they were playing. In all of the live stuff I watched online and in the G3 DVDs he doesn't seem to play that way anymore....

I saw campbell play with white snake back in the 80's. He and Vandenburg came out and played solos in the middle of the concert. Vandenburg took a classical rif and worked it into light speed complete with whammy bar dives and other tricks, and after he was done Campbell came on and started playing this great chord progression that soloed over and interspersed chording and soloing through his playing. It left me with great deal more respect for Campbell as a musician it was just about the flash and tricks, it was a cohesive piece of music. ;)

I saw the Campbell/Vanderberg lineup open for Motley Crue in San Diego and it was a great show.
about 1997 or so I played a pub in Santa Monica and the opening band was Vivians side project that sounded like Crowded House or Revolver-era Beatles :o
I got to hang with him for a little while and he was really cool...kept referring to Def Leppard as his "Day Job" and was hoping the band he was playing with that night would get a deal....

You know I watched the first part of that song song thinking ..."his left hand reminds me of the the alien that jumps out of pod and frantically scampers across the floor so it can attach itself to you face."
He's kinda gives me an uneasy feeling!

you have to make it look like this: [youtube] url link[forwardslashyoutube]
but replace the the words forwardslash with an actual /.
(I had to write it like that, otherwise it is just shown as an invalid youtube link.)

It is a little odd, isn't it. I have to agree with you. It looks like he's got long fingers and his fretting is really pronounced.
