I know HIAR had a acoustic today - but I had to post this one today. I just found out Friday of last week that luthier Lance McCullum died a month ago from an abdominal aortic aneurysm. I think Lance is about my age, so he was quite young. I did not know Lance personally, but we had 'spoken' several times via email and message boards. He was a gifted builder, a very good player, and a great human being.

Here is one of Lance's beautiful creations...

I would tend to agree with you. I don't mind the rosette abalone - bit the top trim is not something I would buy myself. All of Lance's guitars are custom orders though - so that is what the owner wanted on the guitar. He was a one man shop.

I agree. Abaolone should be left off of guitars.

Thats sad to hear....I'm more for plain guitars myself but it is a beautiful instrument...

The abalone doesn't bother me too much...the fret markers on my acoustic has a bit in them.

That particular one is gorgeous, IMO. A very nice instrument. :aok:

I love the Koa on this one.
