The urge to compositionize some new aural shenannery has been overwhelming me of late. As I begin to once more finagle with my electric gear after years of devoted commitment to my acoustic and banjo, I come to grips with the limited abilities of my despoiled rig.

The Assets:
-Tele
-PODxt Live
-Tube preamp
-Macbook

USB recording is no good. The lag is unbearable. So I imagine this basically leaves me with the option of purchasing a 1/4-to-1/8 cable and recording with the line in. I fear a goblinish sound quality in this case (cables better than others?).

Have I other options? Some kinda Firewire interface? Do they still make those? Can I ever trust USB again? Are you selling a standalone recorder? Do these make me look fat?

Or perhaps you have an underutilized PC lying around that you'd like to donate to a worthy cause...?

I have a USB Mbox2 in my office that isn't bad with the latency. Also, have you tried running either the USB of the Pod into the computer or the 1/4" out into the direct in of the mic pre?

I don't have any latency issues with my M Audio fast track.

Ditto, but i'm on a PC, dunno if there is a difference.

I do have a Tascam DP 01 i could probably let go of, but that would be a step backward for you. :o
