This is cool. You can see the rack on one side, the sequencer on the other. Perfect. Alesis monitors just arrived today, Akai MPK Mini, and the M-Audio box is sitting on top of my computer. It all works! I don't have a lot of room, so its a bit crammed in there. But should do the trick.

Thanks!

Yeah, the monitors are a bargain. Sweetwater has them for $199 for the pair, and they are pretty impressive, at least for me. All the reviews i read about them were really good, im really happy with them.

And i'm totally loving the dual video monitors. SO much less flipping things back and forth, or having to squish things down so you can hardly see them.

That is a very sweet setup Phil! How is your mini keyboard/MIDI controller working?

I love it. For 99 bucks, its a good deal, i have used both the keys and the MPC pads. As you can see, the keys are pretty tiny, that takes some dexterity to get used to, but i like the fact it doesn't take up a ton of room.

Very cool Phil! I bought another monitor a couple of months ago but haven't set it up yet.

Nice, Phil... I was recently given a dual monitor card, so that is on my list, too... However, that will be delayed as I have to move again... for the 27th time in 28 years...

Trust me, its not all that tough. I was about as dumb as it gets when it comes to computers and technology. I just learned as i went. I googled a lot. :o

I plan to use the money I made from gigging over the weekend to buy a second monitor. :aok:

Hopefully my video card will support dual monitors. It's got a VGA and an HDMI output. Don't know if it's one or the other or if both can be used at the same time.

Im certain it can, it was put there for duplicating your monitor for presentations and such, like up on a screen. But you have the option of just making it one big monitor. :aok:

Good little set-up, Phil. :thu:

One thing I'd recommend doing, if possible, would be to get your monitors up a little bit higher. Think of it like your guitar amp... if the sound isn't really hitting your ears, you're not hearing "accurately."

Yeah, i know i should raise them up. I guess i have to rearrange my room. As you can see, the one on my right is on a borrowed shelf from where my clothes all go. :o I'd have to move that whole thing and get a stand for the right side, and just a short stand for the left one.

One of these days . . .

The stuff I've read about my video card online this morning says that it can. I'll cross my fingers.

Everything works great! It was truely plug and play this time...no troubleshooting at all. :D

This is the monitor I bought:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG+-+IPS+Series+23%22+LED+Monitor/2031077.p?id=1218306466603&skuId=2031077

I basically bought the biggest one that would fit into the space I had, and that had an HDMI hookup. I took it out of the box, plugged it in, and violla!!! Dual monitors!

I've already been fooling around with my FINE mix with the new wide screen housing the mix window and the old monitor on the edit window. Much, much less hassle since you don't have to toggle between windows.

The only problem is that the old monitor looks like crap compared to the new one. :o

Even if you have two identical monitors you'll get that. :annoyed:

Right now I have two different sized monitors, one my iMac screen and the other a refurb 23" HP. The funny part is the iMac screen actually LOOKS bigger. I use it for trackviews (it's on my left) and the right monitor for mixing and MIDI editing. Check and see if your programs have Screensets, where you can save your favourite configurations and then recall them with a key command. Big time saver.
