Year: 1968 (Circa)
Manufacturer: Hofner
Model: Archtop
Case: Hard
Color: Natural
Condition: Very Good
Description: It's a circa 1960’s Hofner acoustic archtop jazz guitar. We unfortunately can’t determine the exact model number, so we will describe it fully. We received a tip that it may be a Model 449 or Congress, but we're not sure. The body of this guitar is 16” wide at the lower bout and 12” at the upper. It has a single rounded cutaway. The body is 3 3/16” deep, has 2 unbound “F Holes”, a mother-of-toilet-seat pick guard, a 2 piece adjustable rosewood bridge, trapeze tailpiece, and white-black-white binding. The body appears to be made of plywood, possibly laminated with maple. It is finished in a tobacco brown sunburst finish on the front, back, and sides. The neck is 3 piece (maple?) with a rosewood finger board. It is adorned with double dot markers on the 5th, 7th and 9th frets and a single dot marker at the 12th fret. It has a “zero fret” with a black-white-black laminated nut. The front of the headstock is covered with a black over white plastic laminate and there is a small gold script Hofner logo decal at the top of it. On the back of the headstock are the open back tuners with white plastic buttons and a gold decal stating, “Genuine Hofner Original…Made in Germany.” The guitar is in very nice condition and plays and sounds great. There is plenty of fret life left and the neck is straight and the action is low. The truss rod works as intended. This guitar will ship in a generic hard shell case and will be professionally packed.

I dig it for what it is.

I like it, but I've got absolutely no use for it.

Sometimes those guitars are cool and sometimes they are crap. You never know until you actually play one. I would love to own an archtop but can't justify spending the money on a good one. Something like this might fill the void if its decent.

i'd love to see Godin expand on the 5th Avenue line. the Kingpin with the P90 is a step in the right direction. give it a second one and a cutaway and i'd seriously consider it alongside the Reverend Pete Anderson model.

That is in amazingly good shape considering it's age. Pretty nice looking as well. Not anything I would buy though...
