I'm not sure if any of this ultimately makes a difference (although I would love to try them out and see for myself ;D) but this company has an awesome history lesson on how Gibson made pickups in the 1950's on the page for their PAF style pickups....

Thanks to Help!ImaRock on GJ for posting this in his "Guitar Pic of the Day" today.... 8)
Never knew pickups cost so much.
Not to change the subject, but what do you think of Lace Sensor pickups.

I've never been much of a fan of the Lace Sensors...I actually have a set of the original ones that I got in 1989 and they were very sterile sounding....
Hmm. Interesting. My Telecaster has them. One blue and 2 reds and I got to tell you that they sound ok to me. Actually I am happy the guitar came with them. I understand Fender quite using them on the Tele in 1996. Don't know why. Mine is a 92-93 tele deluxe plus. At the time it cost about $800 new. I think it was one step below a custom made tele. I really never liked it. As a matter a fact it stayed in the closet most of the time. The neck was too fat and it weighed too much. But now I can't depart with it. For me it is a good guitar to write songs with, country or pop. Now I just got to learn how to play it!!! ::)
