Hi Tele!

I still have yet to really dig into my propellerhead record thing, mostly been messing with the synth side of things. but i have read good things. We'll see.

I'm going back to what I know. Cubase. Fuckem :D I was hoping the whole apple/logic thing would work out well, but I'm sure as hell not going to buy logic based off of what I've seen in Garageband. It's fine for just laying down some stuff quick, but that's about it. Plus I absolutely hate the one window thing. Un-fucking dock shit so I can move it around where I want it.

Why not Adobe Audition? Always been my fave.

Well, I already have Cubase that I have been using for a while. I was trying to make things easier, have things work together better, but it's just too toyish.

Never really thought about audition.

Can you spread things out? like move the transport, and mixer over onto a 2nd screen while keeping the tracks on another? Do you edit right on the track or open a separate editor?

Do you edit right on the track? Can you re-record over top of a part, then cut out the parts that you don't like to reveal what's behind it?

Yes, although I'm not so great with editing regions myself. I might bump this to the recording forum and see if El Borrachito can give you a "good" answer :)

Ok, I figured out how to edit a section that I needed to fix. Can you change the bit depth? Id like it to be at least cd quality. I'll probably just set up my old pc as a recording computer though.

you should be able to...
my old, out-of-date rec. software can do it.
and does all the other stuff you asked about too.

Logic offers a lot more flexibility that garageband lacks

I hate Garage Band but love Logic. They don't seem at all alike to me. My two cents.

Hi Tom. I actually bought Logic Express 9 and it's been absolutely great. I was very apprehensive about buying it because I hated garageband so bad, but like you said, they aren't alike at all. I'm actually liking it better than Cubase although I'm still fumbling around in it while finding things.

Logic is fantastic. The overhaul from 7 to 8 made a huge difference and 9 just tweaks it a bit more.

I went from Digital Performer to Logic and there were some things at first that made me say "it should be called Illogic" but I got used to it and 9 is even better and more "logical".
