I'll move this to "In the Studio" in a bit..self moderation ftw! :o
I used my Charvel on the "Marshall JMP" setting and my Les Paul on the "Rectifier" setting. Just a touch of reverb on the Charvel, dry on the LP (which is playing the higher part)
The interface is Guitar Rig "Session".
I make no apologies for using a KISS riff either. Deal with it. :p..KISS riffs are all I can manage at the moment  Hard to tell what it sounds like as I'm still on crappy monitors..and PC recording is pretty new to me.

Sounds good.
Are you using the patches stock or are you tweaking them? I've found that the default settings are a good starting point on most of the patches but I need to dial them in for the guitar I'm playing at the time. I really like the clean and crunchy amps but the higher gain stuff can be a little flat with some weird note decay at times if you don't have the gate set just right.
I did a couple clips of pointless doinking around to give a buddy and idea of what it sounds like. Here's my Tempest w/ JB -> Plexi & the BF reverb model

Cool!...I really liked the "crunchy riff" and "Schecter_plexi" ones particularly. :thu:
I started from scratch..loaded the amps/cabs/fx into an empty "rack" and just went from there. I hate tweaking, and if I can't get a useable sound with everything set pretty much at "5"..I get frustrated. Though, in true Marshall JMP style..I actually had the bass at "0" which mimics pretty much what I had to do with the real amp when I had one of those years ago..that's quite impressive that they've modelled that quality. :o...I didn't use any gating or extra eq at all..just a small amount of reverb from the "studio reverb" model on the Charvel.

The crunchy riff clip is my Warmoth Strat w/ the Dimarzio 36th Anniversary PAF in the bridge. That and the Hofner semi are probably my two favorite guitars to record in GR4.
I've been starting off with some of the preset models, tweaking the settings to my taste then creating some custom patches. They've done a great job capturing some of the core elements that make up the tone of these amps in general. The marshall & Fender models in particular definitely have a great vibe. The Vox models are a bit overly boxy and the Rectos are little too brittle compared to the real thing....but not so much that they aren't still pretty close.

I got some nice results with my Strat and the Vox models..will post some up later.

AC Box is my go-to for everything but the heavy stuff, where I normally use an Ultrasonic. I probably use the Tweed and the JC120 models the least, but they do all get used in lessons. It's great to be able to dial in a tone close to what the song actually sounds like for a student. :)
Also, don't ignore the power of the A/B split tool. I've made some great metal patches where I'll use a Vox for the top-end and blend it in with the Ultra for grind, or keep the Ultra and swap out an 800 for a more in your face mids.
...you could have at least used a Kiss riff from the "good" era :o...

Coda... he goes there. cop0
(I agree. That era of KISS needs a bit more fizz to it anyway. :o)

Nice!
I have Guitar Rig 2 on my office computer (I used it for the Funk Jam on the LL) but it seems to overload my resources on that particular machine so I end up using the Waves guitar plugins more often than not...

The "Lick it Up" tour was the first time I saw KISS. Don't make me do a whole demo of "Strutter" or "100,000 years"...'cos I will

I'm still getting used to it, early days, but it's pretty cool. :)

BTW, here's some good tips for using soft sims overall:

I also record with HQ mode off, but switch it on for rendering.

Thanks Andy, that's really helpful! :thu:
This is my Strat with the "Vox Box"..nice chime to my ears..:idk: :o
One track with on the bridge pick up, and a second one with the bridge/neck combo (Kinman has this as standard wiring) to fatten it up.
