My grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary is October 31st. (Yes, they were married on Halloween.) My parents and my grandparents are on the outs. My crazy aunt has taken it upon herself to take over planning their party from my mom. Trust me when I say it will be a train wreck of epic proportions. I don't want to be involved in any of that mess. What would you get as a gift in this situation? I want to distance myself from the party as much as possible and will most likely not attend.

Maybe a "date night" package with (depending on how much you want to spend) a nice restaurant gift certificate and a night in a hotel in the nearest "big city" where they could take in a show or sporting event that they would enjoy?

I'd prefer not to spend more than $200. I should probably mention they're wealthy and have everything. Buying gifts for them REALLY SUCKS.

Oh. Let them get their own night in the big city, then. :)
Anything they enjoy as a couple?

A photo album from www.shutterfly.com is a great gift for the loved one that has everything.
You'd have to get crackin' on putting it together though, because they have at least a week turn around time, I think.
We've been getting one for my parents and grandparents for Christmas for the last few years and they both love them.

Gambling. :D
I usually buy them scratch-offs for Christmas. I don't think it's an appropriate gift for their anniversary as well. They're not really sentimental either so a goofy poem in a golden frame is not up their alley.

Put 'em up in a semi-local casino for the weekend.
Does OH have table games? If not, WV does. I think there's a casino in Wheeling and one in Crosslanes. Wheeling is probably closer to C-bus.

They go to "the boat" all the time. I think that's Argosy? They also lived in Vegas and travel there often. See how much this sucks?
I can't come up with squat. Past good gifts have included hot air balloon rides and swimming with dolphins.

Not that anyone cares but me, but I have it!
I can't give a link because the site is blocked at work. It's labeled as a picture hosting site although it's totally not. mad0
I'm going to order three pictures through Canvas on Demand. Basically, they take your photos and transfer them to canvas. There is a wedding photo of my grandparents that I know from past experience they both love. It's a 4"x6" and I'm going to blow it up, I just haven't decided how big yet. I also know that they would like that because in a box of photos I was going through, that same picture was crappily blown up on someone's home computer. It looked like total poo but it tells me they'd like a bigger copy of it.
I also found really cute black and white pictures of both of them as kids. My grandfather is standing in front of the Christmas tree in a cowboy outfit and my grandmother is sitting on a stool on a rooftop. I'm going to order small canvases of those, probably 8"x10" and have them colorized. I thought adding the color would give them a bit of novelty. They have examples of colorization on their site and it's really cute.
I'm so excited. party0009

Because they shipped it overnight. It's actually supposed to be here today but FedEx is giving themselves some leeway. I hope they turned out well. I'm a wreck.
