Distortion or Fuzz

I am looking for a great distortion pedal that I can have great rock and roll sounds...

Would you guys prefer a distortion or fuzz?

What is the difference? They sound just about the same to me...:confused:

Fuzz is cool but less useful for most stuff....I'd suggest distortion first...

if you're a "work the guitar volume control" guy, then fuzz. it has a wider range, can sound like most distortions at low settings, and then can get really gnarly as you max out the volume knob.

if you're a "i play guitar on 10" kinda guy, then distortion.
