I still haven't really had a chance to completely dial it in, and I still haven't wired my 412 for 4 ohms, so I haven't been able to really get good OD tones with the Bassman yet, but....

I'm recording Back In Black for coverfest this month. I used my Edwards P90 Goldtop and my ***** AS820 (335 clone) for the rhythm guitar parts. Ran them through the Direct Drive and into the clean channel of my Classic 50 (which I've converted to a 1/2 stack running Celestion G12T75 speakers I think).

I've fiddled with the internal trim pots and I'm almost where I want to be, I think. However, the AC/DC tone is really a lot lower gain than I normally use, so I backed off the gain on the pedal to about 9 o'clock. Tone and volume were somewhere around 12 o'clock.

The way I recorded the drums is I imported the original track into Cubase and played drums along with it. Then I muted the original and played guitars and bass over my drum track.

I swear, last night I was working on vocals and mixing, and I could toggle between my version and AC/DC's version simply by hitting the solo button on the original track and the guitar tones sound all but identical. I actually thought I was listening to my tracks at one point and didn't realize it was AC/DC until Brian Johnson started singing.

So, for low gain tones, I've got it dialed in. Now I just need to nail the higher gain tones I use the most.

So I take it you like the pedal?

I love it for low gain AC/DC type tones so far.

Still haven't really got the higher gain stuff exactly the way I want it, but I think it's mostly a matter of matching up the right speakers with the Bassman. Come to think of it, I didn't even try the higher gain stuff through the Classic 50.

I bought some wire and a new jack so I'm going to get around to rewiring my 412 maybe tonight. I figure my Classic 50 sounds great through the 412, so the Bassman should also.

Cool! You'll have to post clips when you get it where you want it...

I will have Back In Black done before the end of the week, I hope. I've got everything except the lead guitar done, and I might have another shot at the vocals.

The vocals are a real PITA on that one.

Cool!

I can't imagine singing that one but if you pulled off "Welcome to the Jungle" I think you'll do just fine!

The vocals to Back In Black are even harder than the vocals to Welcome To The Jungle. For the takes I did yesterday, I ended up splitting each verse into three sections and only doing about two lines at a time, then did another take for each of the choruses.

They sound pretty good so far, but I'm still hoping I can get them sounding a little better.

I've had to sing that song in some of our classes and I always end up sounding like Dean Martin :o

Yeah...AC/DC never used a single pedal (as I am aware)....

They played through marshall amps only...

Thye have a little more gain live than in theri albums...

Yep, I have heard the same ...just cranked the hell out of their amps

Yeah, it sounds like a cranked amp. However, my studio is kind of small to crank a non master volume Marshall into overdrive. :o

Well, that and I don't have a non master volume Marshall to crank.

I'm telling you, though, the Barber copped the sound as perfectly as I've ever heard.

I think Barber owes me some free shit at this point.

That's very cool, pedals are coming a long way
