I still haven't really had a chance to completely dial it in, and I still haven't wired my 412 for 4 ohms, so I haven't been able to really get good OD tones with the Bassman yet, but....
I'm recording Back In Black for coverfest this month. I used my Edwards P90 Goldtop and my ***** AS820 (335 clone) for the rhythm guitar parts. Ran them through the Direct Drive and into the clean channel of my Classic 50 (which I've converted to a 1/2 stack running Celestion G12T75 speakers I think).
I've fiddled with the internal trim pots and I'm almost where I want to be, I think. However, the AC/DC tone is really a lot lower gain than I normally use, so I backed off the gain on the pedal to about 9 o'clock. Tone and volume were somewhere around 12 o'clock.
The way I recorded the drums is I imported the original track into Cubase and played drums along with it. Then I muted the original and played guitars and bass over my drum track.
I swear, last night I was working on vocals and mixing, and I could toggle between my version and AC/DC's version simply by hitting the solo button on the original track and the guitar tones sound all but identical. I actually thought I was listening to my tracks at one point and didn't realize it was AC/DC until Brian Johnson started singing.
So, for low gain tones, I've got it dialed in. Now I just need to nail the higher gain tones I use the most.
