I hate to bring up actual music content, but as long as it's not all the time I assume it's ok....
We are short a bass player, so I got to play bass at church band practice last night. My bass is still in transit (hopefully arriving today) so I had to play a borrowed bass. I forgot how much fun playing bass is. I'm actually not a bad bass player and we had a few songs that just had a wicked groove last night. Now I just need to get to the point where I can play bass and sing at the same time and I'll get to play more often. But dang - that was fun!!!

I think that sometimes just the change of pace is fun. I've played bass at church two or three times and I've always dug it. I only have a very much entry level bass but it does the job. Now that I've got some confidence in ***** I'm probably going to order an SX Jazz bass (it'll actually be for the wife) and drop the one we've got.
Good on ya for enjoying the bottom end last night. ;D

i cant say im any good at it, but playing bass is a lot of fun. I actually started on bass, after piano and clarinet when i was a kid.
I still like to drag it out and play once in awhile.

I dig playing bass here and there, used to do it at church when the one guy would miss, my bro would take the guitar, I'd take bas. It was fun, especially on the more upbeat tunes and you get to really pluck 'em and make it thumpy.

I had to play last night to cover for a student who didn't show up for a class...I got to play an Audioslave song for an hour.
I used to hate playing bass but I'm enjoying it more lately. I also end up having to play drums in 2-3 classes a week because the one thing we are short on is drum students...I think I like playing drums more...

I think growing up listening to a lot of the 60's and 70's music (yeah I'm old) helps. Stuff like Parliment, Graham Central Station, Earth Wind & Fire, James Brown, Tower Of Power, Al Green, Blood Sweat & Tears, etc gives you a great ear for getting a groove. Most of the 'groove' stuff now is techno computer stuff. And while it is yields some good rhythms, it lacks something.....

You can't do on a PC what you can do with drums and a bass, IMO.  Computerized music is too 'perfect' to my ears.  It lacks humanity.

That must be it. You would think think the 'perfection' available today in the studios (computer rhythms, vocal pitch corrections, etc) would yield better music, but it doesn't....

No it yields sterility, no soul to be found.
Take for instance the stones, their loose, sorta disjointed feel is part of what makes it so good. its like its on the edge of falling apart, but hangs in there. hahaha.
