First step is always the hardest. Don't forget to stretch before and after.
I'm right there with you, by the way. Last night I ran for the first time since tearing up my knee playing soccer last spring, and it felt great. I didn't want to run, but I knew I needed to. So I jogged to the record store about 3 miles away and bought a CD, then I walked home at a very fast clip. I obviously can't buy a CD every day, but I think it was a healthy motivator just the one time. ;D
It has been raining in Atlanta all day, but the sun just came out and the sky looks pretty cool. So, there is my motivator for tonight.

Oh cool, im glad you are starting up again too. That helps push me. hahaha.
I had gotten up to 218 pounds. Then i went on strict atkins, and started running, and actually got down to about 165. Now im back up to 175, which isnt bad, but im just feelings soft. When im out of shape i feel sleepy, no energy, that sort of thing.
I need to get back into doing something.

How is the weather there? Its absolute miserable Santa Ana winds here...hot and dry...
Phil513

Yes, very hot and dry. And this is Escondido, up home in Murrieta its normally 5-10 degrees hotter.
I can take it.

You're more of a man than I, then...I hate this weather...

Well it wont be easy. Beer in the fridge versus going for a jog.
I really need to start though. And so i shall. ;D

Beer after jog sounds like the perfect solution to me...

I stopped running ten years ago the doctor said maybe you should try swimming. Or your wheels are gonna fall off...
arthritis in my ankles and knees, and tore my achilles tendon. :-\
you should get one of those two beer hats to run in ;D

lulz. You know, in Murrieta i think there are 2 cops for every citizen, and they dont have much to do.
You cant get away with anything there.
But afterward, yes indeedy.

I'm loading up a new playlist, and then I'm off. In college, my fighting weight was about 175. I'm 6'3", and I currently weigh in at about 225. I'd like to get back to 195, but I think 200 or 205 would be just as well.

Oh yeah, im only about 5-10 or so. When i was 218 i was a fatass.

I'm 6'3" and at 225 I'd look emaciated :o
I'm hoping to get down to 230, though...

Sweet Lord! I thought about quitting 20 minutes in, and then I hit a slight downhill sloping stretch of smooth pavement and just the right song came on: Goddamn the Sun by Scott Miller, backed by Superdrag. I ended up running 45 minutes and finishing my entire loop with a small spring in my step. A month of this and I'm going to be cruising! :D

Well my first attempt was much less epic than Mr Grits.
I prolly only went a mile and a half. Granted it was still ugly hot, and there is a big fire on Camp Pendleton, the smoke made the air pretty ghastly.
But hey, its a start. Right now for me its all about creating a habit.
