Muhahahahahahaha....

I'll celebrate by posting some pics of my baby. This is my 2003 Lowden 025C. It's been banged around a bit (notice the ding at the bottom of the soundboard) but it sounds amazing and plays like buttah. There's a Sunrise pickup in the sound hole and a Baggs I-Beam under the soundboard. I have no business owning it.

;D

I've never played a Lowden... looks beautiful....what is it comparable sound-wise?

Well, it's a big guitar -- jumbo size, so right away you know it's going to be pretty loud (see what I did there?). There's a lot of bass but all of the frequencies are very balanced. It's a unique sound, that's for sure. The cedar/rosewood combination contributes to a lot of that, and so does the bracing. Even still, a cedar & rosewood Taylor GS doesn't sound much like my Lowden at all. My bandmate has one so I'm comfortable making that declaration.

I'd characterize it as having very pronounced string definition. It's a great strummer but it really comes into its own when you fingerpick (or hybrid pick, in my case). It has a wide, fat neck so that helps too.

My guilty secret is that Richard Thompson was an influence on my decision to purchase this guitar. He plays a different model (an F25C -- his is closer to a concert body size) but in most other respects they're basically identical.

I'm a huge fan and I really haven't heard a better live acoustic guitar sound than his, so that was a factor. It's a pretty dramatic, thundering sound. Against my better judgment I took it down from the wall and I fell in love immediately. It was over at that point. Also, I bought it at a time when I didn't have a girlfriend, a mortgage, significant credit card debt, or a car payment. The store offered me 12 months and no interest, so I busted my ass to pay it off within that time frame.

If you want to hear someone do justice to a Lowden, go to YouTube and search for Thompson. I'm sure there are plenty of clips where he's playing his.

I'll probably give one a spin at next years NAMM...if I do it in a store I'll probably want to buy one and I really can't afford it right now...

I love it when a person picks up a guitar and immediately connects with it. That is usually how I find my better instruments like my Les Paul.... :)

Hey Guys. That Lowden is a beauty no doubt. I have been playing for like 2 years and I am drawn in by the beauty of the acoustic sound. I play a washburn and i really think it plays really well. Its got great sound. I do have a dream guitar. Its a Stonebridge 23 cr One of my fav players Antoine Dufour plays it. Anyone know what guitar Michael Hedges plaayed? Also how do u post pics lol ???

I don't have a picture yet, but I just bought a new Yairi acoustic guitar a YD-30 C/B model. Has a spruce top and mahogany sides . A real beauty. Has a nice base tone and the treble is somewhat soft.

Do any of you have a Yairi guitar?
