otherworldly sonority from common, earthly elements. Articulate, sparkling cleans, touch-sensitive leads and a bright and colorful crunch are coaxed from its power section and poured from premium Celestion® speakers.

Beginning clean and fast, featuring an open top-end and tight bottom-end, Channel 1 (Gold), opens gradually to present simmering blues tones that churn like spirits in a cauldron. Advancing toward saturation, Crunch mode turns up the heat adding pick response and increased tonal complexity. Channel 2 (Mercury), achieves critical mass and invokes the famous white-hot Bogner gain: creamy, modern and screaming with sustain. Conjure the legendary Brown sound by switching to the 20-watt variac mode.

As your sound materializes, give it life and depth with Reverb and Delay in variable styles and levels. On their own journey, the effects remain separate from the original signal, occupying their own circuit. The result is a rich, living and breathing, fully realized resonance composed entirely of nature, philosophy and maybe a little magic.

Its a spider valve.

I hated those amps when they came out...is it just the same thing rebadged for Bogner since he did the power section on the Spider Valve?

I really like the Alchemist. I was trying to convince my friend to get one and he liked it but bought a Vetta instead, because he's a super tweaker. I think the Alchemist was just really easy to get a sound out of, no matter how you had it set. I tried a couple of different guitars through it, but my favourite was a used Grosh Tele....

Also, I have completely irrational love for those Charvels.

Those Charvells can be pretty good guitars...

I wanna snag something with humbuckers for a bit beefier tone sometimes, but I'm not needing a shreddy/metal guitar and Floyd would bother the piss out of me... but every time I play one I love it. FUCK GAS.

The alchemist is made by L6 OEM'd to Bogner. The Alch has a tube pre in it which is a little step up from the SV. The effects are straight L6. The Sv, alch, and h&k switchblade are all similar,, none of which id own.

Thats a whole genre of amp that I haven't been interested in. None of them work for me as far as gigging goes, even if they have the tube power section.

I'm not that picky about what's in it as long as it sounds good. :idk:

It does have to sound good though, and for me it has to feel right, like its alive. Usually amps like the alchemist don't cut through the mix very well. Its probably pretty good for recording though.

I've never played one, just I heard a guy playing one in my local GC when they first came out. It sounded really good, but the effects sounded really 'wet' in the mix, and a little overpowering, if you know what I mean. I'm not sure if the guy playing it had set it up poorly, or if it always does that. The base sound, under all the effects, sounded pretty decent to my ears.

I've only trie the Spider Valve...in GC (bad setting to try anything) but also when a student brought one in for class a few times and I still didn't like it. Really the clean sounds were the thing that bugged me the most...

just when you thought there wasn't a more annoying gear review guy than the dude from Pro Guitar Shop, along comes this douche. i don't want to know anything about this amp. unless it's falling on him and crushing his larynx.
