Nice little jam in Bb Dorian. I didn't have a chance to record a take for last weeks either, so I'll try and get one for that and one for this one done today :quag:

Not ignoring this Mark... I have sat down several times - but I have not recorded anything that I would want to share with you guys  Not giving up tho.

I need to play one, too but I've been really swamped....maybe I'll get one in tomorrow if I get a break in my teaching schedule...

I downloaded this a few weeks ago, but alas, haven't gotten around to doing anything with it yet.

I should be practicing this afternoon, but can't get motivated at all. So I decided to take a crack at this one too. Like the funk jam, it's just a quick run through, and has a few mistakes, but there were a couple of things I liked in there. Got me playing something a little different than what I usually play anyway, which can only be a good thing.

Would enjoy hearing some of you other guys give it a shot too, if anyone feels like it and has time.

Here we go..:o...it's a one take, and I tried to play as honestly as possible..something I've been working on..by "honest" I mean I tried to play what I felt and heard in my head without knowingly referring to any scale/theory I know..of course I know I was doing that anyway..I was just trying to not be aware of it!

Not my best playing technically I know, but I haven't been awake long and I just tried to create a vibe of sorts.

Thanks Mark!..wow, I guess sometimes just going for it works. :). In our songs, I don't do much guitar solo stuff if any..so still trying to find "my" voice when playing this type of thing.

Very cool! I liked it a lot. I would love to be half that inventive, and definitely wish I could pull off stuff even nearly that fast. Mine would get boring pretty quick, but I could listen to you go on for a long time and stay interested.

Great job!

Thanks jayhitz!, I've been inspired by people both here and on HC to practice my butt off for the last year or so.

Your playing is really quite good on this. Your phrasing was just ridiculously tight throughout, with some really nice melodies that seemed to capture the mood of the track very nicely. :aok:

I'll definitely give it a shot.

Thanks!...I feel like I'm getting quite comfortable with the Dorian sound over these types of tracks. Took a while to break out of strictly pentatonics though.

Those are great! Lots of attitude in the first pass, but your phrasing is quite melodic. The phrygian dominant take was really cool, too - I especially liked the phrases where you weren't playing the b9, and I would sort of forget abut that aspect of it, but then you would bring it back to that. Very nice.

Just digging through some stuff, I found a cool harmonic minor type backing track that I jammed over a while ago..here's the BT:

This is a great idea, these backing tracks, it really makes you think of putting down something good for the masses.

I was going to try and have a weekly jam (I guess like they have in HCEG now that I think about it) but I just got too busy.

Maybe someone else who is interested in running it might step up...:o

That was great! I liked it a lot. Was that an Yngwie lick at the fast picked section? It sounded very tight, and your phrasing overall is not sloppy, no matter what you say.

I'll try to throw down on one of these this weekend. I have to put together a paper and presentation, but I'll need some guitar playing to keep me sane during all that.

Thanks! :)...yeah, I was listening to "Marching Out" a lot at that time...I still think the guitar playing on that album is stellar...so I felt obliged to steal some of it. :o
