What kind of cables do you use, and how important do you feel a good cable is to your tone?

Personally I have George L patch cables in my pedal board (they made a HUGE difference when I switched over from Proco) and I have used premium cables over the years but now I almost feel like most of them aren't really worth the money.

What say you?

Actually Quantum's not too bad..I have a few VERY old ones that are still working and sounding fine.

I spoke to the guy who owns the company last year at NAMM and it sounds like he uses pretty good materials.

its what we have at the music school. they're cheap and they work. i've never had one short out on me. i don't get spending serious cash on cables. as long as you get something decent with good ends, you'll be fine.

I've always been pretty happy with Proco.

I'm not really loyal to any brand though. As long as it seems like a durable cable and it has good quality ends on it, I'm okay with it.

I refuse to sell planet waves anymore because of the sheer volume of returns due to breakage....

I've owned one Planet Waves cable and within a couple of months, the cable itself went microphonic. You could hear static through the amp whenever the cable moved across the floor.

It was about a $30 cable too.

The cables on my pedal board are DiMarzios and they have worked well. I have not tried anything else so I'm not sure how they compare.

As far as my guitar cables, I have a mixed bag. I have a Lava Cable, a couple of Live wires, one Fender, two Monsters (that I want to get rid of), and a couple of whatever the Music-Go-Round generics are (for backup use mainly).

I'm not sure how much difference they make. They do make a difference though. I need to do a cable test with my new Lava cable...
