It could have turned out bad, but since nobody got hurt, we've all gotten a good laugh out of it. :o
Yesterday was the first day of work for a new hire in a department that works closely with mine.
Her boss spent most of the morning walking her around introducing her to people and telling her what everybody's job functions are. One of the guys in my department had a client meeting scheduled for this morning, and since her job would require her to meet with the same clients, they thought it would be a good idea for her to go along and meet the client and get a feel for how the meetings usually go down. The meeting was about an hour away from the office, and he rented a car to take to the meeting (for insurance reasons, the company prefers that we rent cars rather than driving our personal vehicles for job duties.) So, the new hire says she'll ride up with him. When she came out of his office, she jokingly asks his assistant how safe a driver he is. The assistant replies "You're not riding in the same car with him, are you? I'm so sorry."
So this morning we get a call. They've been in a fender-bender. :o Nobody was hurt, but apparently the rental car took a pretty good blow.
So, her second day on the job, she's already been in a car wreck. It might be an ominous sign for her career. :D
