it's a deceivingly small amp. :o

Had my second gig with the Deluxe and Tele yesterday. It was awesome but I might need a new "rock" amp.

you don't need a new amp. you just need to set your distortion pedals differently.
as for the Mesa, it's called the Subway Rocket. 20 watts, 1x10. 90s predecessor to the current Express 5:25. there's usually a roached out, house 4x12 at most of the gigs i've used it on. so i come in and put my amp on top of it for some elevation and just go. 9 out of 10 times, somebody comes up to me and says, "wow, that Mesa sounded amazing. were you running through the 4x12?" answer is always "no", and they're always shocked.

I've been messing with the pedals quite a bit. I have a cover band rehearsal next week and I'll have a better idea then. With the Tele all I need is the RC Booster and the Timefactor and it sounds awesome.

a boost with a bit of grit will definitely get you where you want to go. how's that Timefactor working out for you?

I know the Peavey basic is a bass amp...and the vibro-champ is self-explanatory as well...
...what model MESA is that?
...the Allen Encore is completely new to me...what's the story there?

'97 Mesa/Boogie Subway Rocket. pre-reverb model. 2 EL-84s, 4 12ax7s, SS Rectifier. clean and lead channels share tone stack. lead contour re-eq's for a more Recto tone.
the Allen Encore is a handbuilt, tweaked out blackface Vibrolux Reverb. 2 knob reverb, tremolo, master volume. "raw" knob which removes the tone stack for tweed tones. mine is the 40 watt, 2x10 version. 2 6L6s, 5 12ax7s, 5AR4 rectifier. speakers are Eminence Ragin' Cajuns.

i've had the Mesa since college. the Allen took over for a Blues Deluxe that just wouldn't make a sound that was less than deafening and a '76 Deluxe Reverb that couldn't stay out of the shop. sold them, and spent the money once so i never have to do it again.
now you know why i GAS but don't buy. :D

I've pretty covered in that department. The Timefactor is great. I used my "Fake Echoplex" sound a bunch last night, the leslie sound and a phasery thing I worked up for one song. With the cover band we're doing "Where the streets have no name" now and its really handy for that...

Howie - I thought you had two Champs. Did you sell one?

Any idea if anyone is bringing an amp with them? The one disadvantage of flying is that I have to travel light and thus cannot bring any gear...

I think I'm going to set up a little different this year. I'll pull the drums out a foot or two and put the amps along the wall behind the drums. Hopefully that'll give us a little more room, and make all the amps easier to hear.
The amps I'll have onhand:
Peavey Classic 50 1/2 stack
Peavey Classic 30 with 112 extension cab
Fender Bassman 50 with 212 Avatar cab
Blackstar HT5 ministack
Ashdown MAG300 bass amp with Avatar B212 cab
I've also got a homemade 212 cab and the Bassman 215 cab, but I'll probably put them somewhere out of the way so as not to take up any valuable real estate.

LOVE the Subway rocket Howie! :thu: I used to run a DC-3 head through a 2x12 in the late 90s, that could rip it up like a Subway Rocket does.

the DC-3 was way more versatile. but i just couldn't afford one at the time and obviously used market availability was nothing like it is today. so i got the Rocket.
