My Mbox came with Amplitube, which I am not the most excited about...you guys have experiences with Guitar Rig, Eleven, Waves, Ampfarm or any of the other packages out there?
my buddy who does this for a living has the Waves bundle with the pedal that he swears by but I am not excited about spending $700...

I haven't used any extensively, and not for a few years, but I had amplitude or something on my computer for a while and played around with it a bit. It sounded pretty good, and this was at least 4 or 5 years ago. They've probably gotten a lot better since then.

I can mic an amp in the office next to mine when the place is quiet but chances are for many things I'll need to use the software.
I'm using Amplitube for my book CD since its all just very basic clean tones but I think I'll find it lacking when I actually try and do something a little more involved...

These sound pretty good. Perfect for when you think "I wish that had a little more hair". The presets suck as most do. First thing I have to do is dump a bunch of treble out of them. Might be a way to get back that silver anniversary that you sold. biggrin

Amplitube and guitarig are pigs compared to softube.
Check out the acoustic feedback plugin also. Sounds like it could be useful to make a plugin sound alive.

Wow...they sound bitchen. Its pretty expensive, though...I don't really want to spend $799 for amp models right now smi
What I really liked about the demos was the "3d" feel of it all. That's something that is usually missing from the models that I've heard...I play through a PodXT all the time so I am used to those, and I've been trying Amplitube so that is currently my frame of reference.
Last year at NAMM I tried Guitar Rig, Waves and Eleven. Guitar rig just seems to have a strange "feel" while I was playing that I didn't dig at all. Eleven and Waves seemed cool in the artificial NAMM environment but its a totally different thing using it on your own.
I guess I'll try them all again this year in a few weeks....and look for Softtube, too AOK
