are you growing (meeting your challenges) as a song writer

Over the years I've been putting lyrics to "songs" that I wrote and in the last year or so, I been able to run a few of my songs by with some very talented musicians and the learning progress and help I've gotten has been very positive. The thing that I have notice is that I'm not asking for help writing my songs, but just putting them in musical sense. That part I feel also takes talent and people I've worked with have been so helpful. Including the few on this forum. So how about you guys

I'd like to think my songwriting is improving with each new song I write. I'm generally a self-conscious person though, and always hesitate in showing it to other people.

I hope I'm/we're improving...I know I'm better that I was 20 years ago in that listening back makes me cringe..and I'd like to think that in 20 years time (If I'm still around) that listening back will still make me cringe. :idk:

I know my writing (and playing) improved by leaps and bounds when I joined a band with some talented guys in it. Putting yourself in a position where you have to constantly improve like that just to keep up is the best way for me personally to develop.
