Yup. I will start. 10 am here. 7 hours to go. I am bored, and surfing about 10 different sites at the moment. I cannot think of anything particularly entertaining to post, but I am sure hoping someone else can because otherwise this is gonna be a very long day.

8:04 here - 8 hours to go.
I probably need to start updating our tax software here. We (me actually) wrote our IRS reporting software and I have to update it annually with whatever changes the IRS and the SSA have thrown in for the year. I think they changed the design of the reporting forms this year, and that is a major PITA to fix because our form software is very dated and hard to work with.... >:(

It hasn't been that bad the last few years. They have not messed with the reporting formats very much....

I actually won't be at work for another 4 hours...everyone is still sleeping here, actually.
I get to install infant seats in both our cars this morning we we have that stuff all over the living room at the moment.
The joke used to be that our son should be on MTV Cribs, just showing off all of his actual cribs. Because of our day care situation (I watch him (soon to be "them") in the morning, take him to my inlaws show at 11:00am for my mother in law to watch until my wife picks him up at 3:30 and either takes him to our store or home we have a ton of stuff in each place. We own TEN car seats (3 infant carriers, 3 child safety seats and 3 booster seats and one extra that my wifes company gave her when she went out on maternity leave), 2 cribs, a pack and play, 2 play pens and a bunch of other stuff....we are going to have such a garage sale when this is all over....

I've got conference calls all day. You can sit in for me. You just have to sit there with your phone on mute and if they do ask your opinion, say in falsetto, "I have nothing to add."

If my boss was gonna be out all day, I might, but realistically I will back out because that is HUGE potential for disater for all parties involved. Would absolutely be hilarious though ;D

I totally wouldn't do it anyway. I do have a new job but I'm not looking to get fired in the meantime.

Whatevs ::)
I don't have an exact date; whenever they decide to start a new academy class. They're not very organized. They sent out the letters for the one that started in September three weeks before it was supposed to start. Some people weren't able to give their current employers two week's notice.
My grandmother works there and she said they're really short on deputies right now. People can't even take their time that they scheduled off because they don't have enough coverage. I'm hoping it's sooner rather than later. She says she thinks it will definitely be by February.

The funniest one went down like this.
We had 8 portfolio managers in our department. 2 of them were mutual fund managers, the other 6 managed client portfolios. Our company is based in NC and has branches in about 10 states. So, every Monday morning there would be a company wide Asset Management conference call, where'd they'd discuss things that had happened in the market the previous week, their current strategies, etc. There would usually be one guest speaker in addition to the host every week. One week, that speaker was one of the mutual fund managers from our office. Now this guy was always a little off his rocker, but he somehow managed to run a pretty successful mutual fund. We'll call him Steve.
Anyway, the rest of us were in the conference room listening together on the speakerphone. One of the guys was making comments about a few of the off the wall things Steve had said. When Steve's speech was done, he popped into the conference room. The host of the call (the faceless voice on the box, who happened to be the department head) asks "Anybody want to share your thoughts?" At the same time Steve quietly asks "What'd you think?"
One of the portfolio managers in the conference room responds to Steve "I think you're a fucking idiot."
It was at that point that the call went completely silent for a good 10 seconds before the host commented "I'd like to remind everyone to make sure they have their phone muted." :o
Nobody lost their job, but everybody on the call recognized the voice (not mine).

That's pretty funny...
There is the story of the co-worker of a friend of mine who is a working keyboard player who has played with big names like Lionel Ritchie and folks like that.
He was the Music Director for a rather big (at the time but ultimately on-hit wonder) and was told to fire a sax player in the band for some reason. Instead of having a face to face meeting he decided to leave a message on the guys voicemail. Apparently he was driving in this car with a friend and left his message on the guys voice mail (i.e. "sorry things didn't work out blah blah blah"), put his phone down and proceeded to tell his friend in the passenger seat "thats how you deal with stupid (N-words) etc etc etc"...unfortunately he didn't press end on his cell phone and the entire racist tirade went into his voicemail.
The sax player gets home, checks his voicemail and hears the whole thing. He then figures out a way to dump the whole thing into pro-tools and burns 100 CDs, mailing them out to everyone (including the African American artist who's band this concerned) he knew in the industry....
Needless to say this guy lost his job. They needed to keep him for the last few dates of the tour but after the last show while this guy was inside the venue hanging out they loaded the trucks and left...his personal gear sitting on the loading dock of the venue and no ticket for him to get home....

Thats awesome. hahahaha.
Just shows that the more consistant you are in living life, the less things can come around and bite you.
