So, I'm playing a chord progression that goes like this:
C E7 Am F and later goes to
Dm E7 Am
Dm7 E7 Am F G back to the above chords
Right now I'm playing over this in a Am pent. what else would you suggest using to liven it up a bit?

In that progression I would use C Major pentatonic (same notes as Am but different resolutions) except for over the E7 chord, which has a G# note....try hitting either an E major or E7 arpeggio over that chord or avoid the G note altogether when you are playing over it.

A minor pentatonic and A Aeolian work over that one except for (once again) the E7. Either use the chord tone approach from above OR play A Harmonic Minor which is really just A Aeloian with the G# or raised 7th.
Let me know how that works for you!
