So, my wife likes to play certain games on the PC now. She never was a gamer, but now she is enjoying. OK, fair enough, not a problem. As long as you dont do it on MY PC, my BABY that I built from SCRATCH because I like to PLAY on it. Thats WHY I built it.

So, needless to say, we can no longer have ONE PC in the house because we are going to murder each other soon. So, solution? Use old parts, combine with new parts, viola, brand new PC. I will use an old Hard Drive with XP already on it, old case, CD burner, power supply, etc that I already have laying around.

What I have:

Athlon 64x2 6000+

2 gigs DDR2 800 RAM

7200.10 250 gig hard drive

ATI Radeon X1950 pro.

This machine was really nice a year ago, and still handles anything I throw at it now.

Here's what my wife will have:

Athlon 64x2 5000+

2 gigs DDR2 800 RAM

old 40 gig IDE hard drive

ATI Radeon HD 4670

Her machine is SLIGHTLY slower......except the card. Now, marriage ethics question. Im the gamer. Always have been, always will be. Do I take the new card, put it in my machine, and let her have my X1950? Or do I let her keep the new card?

I am so torn. On one hand, I kinda feel like I should just let her have it, but on the flip side, I want the new one. :-\

Will she notice the performance difference?

better to ask permission than to beg for forgiveness ;)

Prolly should do what you want to do. If you WANT to give her the better card, then you can be happy about doing it. But if you dont, you will feel bitter about it.

Hard to say. She already has a slower CPU and hard drive. Maybe the faster GPU will even that out and it would perform exactly like mine does. On the flip side of that, most games do not fully utilize MY cpu, and hers is almost as fast, so the card may be WASTED in her system.

Keep the card - she'll never notice.

Haha yes she would. She might not notice a difference in performance, but she would know I took the card.

In that case, either ask her if she'd mind you taking the card, or give her the card.

I think I am just gonna leave well enough alone. She is already going to feel like she is getting a little ripped off since her PC and HDD are slower (youd think I was getting her a 10 year old Win 98 box ::)
