One of my students is looking for a nylon string guitar for his collection, but he really doesn't want a traditional classical guitar and wants to stay around $350. Apparently Breedlove has a new model like that, but I haven't seen one locally. I know Taylor has one, but it's around $900 and Yamaha has a thinline style for about $500. We also talked about converting a regular dread or parlor to one using high-tension ball end strings, but we wanted to check other options first... any suggestions?

My wife bought a Blueridge, put on ball-end nylon strings, and had the neck tension adjusted. It seemed to work just fine.
Luna has this one, just a bit over his range:

I know a lot of people dislike them, but I love my Luna acoustic.

Ovation has a few that can be fund used in that price range. Cordoba has some thinline models around that price point as well.
