I think I am going to make a pot of red sauce and then some green chili...maybe even some split pea soup.
It just seems like a perfect day to spend in the kitchen... I will take pics unless I get really lazy.

I gotta admit, its not much of a recipe...
I jsut buy the split peas and it comes with a flavor packet. :weebz: I add some garlic and other spices (nothing exotic). My wife is a former vegetarian, and she freaks out if I make it my old way, with a ham hock. HOWEVER, I will be cooking some country style pork ribs in the oven while I make the soup though...so I can add the pork to MY bowl of soup.
The pork is easy, I just cover it with lemon pepper and garlic, add a can of chicken or beef broth (cant find pork broth) then toss in a bottle of liquid smoke and put it in a dutch oven for about 6 hours. Yummy.
I am obviously open to suggestion on my recipe, as it is quite weak.

I just googled Anderson's Pea Soup Recipe. Dash of Red Pepper sounds interesting.
Ingredients:
8 cups water
2 cups green split peas
1 rib celery -- coarsely chopped
1 large carrot -- chopped
1 small onion -- chopped
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1 dash red pepper
1 bay leaf
Salt
Pepper
Directions:
Combine water, peas, celery, carrot, onion, thyme, red pepper, and bay leaf in large kettle. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Boil vigorously 20 minutes, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer until split peas are tender. Press soup through fine sieve and reheat just to boiling point.

I will stock up the ingredients for green chili stew this weekend.
Sunday's high temp is supposed to be about 20, so I'll make some Sunday afternoon. It is wonderful on a cold day....
