My HS class reunion is tomorrow in the Bay Area (Alameda to be exact). I really wanted to go because I missed the last one who knows if there will be another one. But it is too far to drive (19 hours each direction) and too much $$ to chunk out for two days (about $700.00 for the wife & me) because of car rental and hotel (my family all moved out of the Bay Area years ago). If my kids were out of school I could take a few days off and drive out, but they aren't. I'll have to have a few beers tomorrow night instead, listen to some bad old country songs, and cry in my beer.... :'(

We had my 20th class reunion a couple of months ago and I didn't go...it was going to be a bunch of money (even though it was local) and I made the realization that all of my friends in high school were either the year before or the year ahead of me...a few people did search me our on Facebook and Classmates.com, though

I went to my 10 year reunion. I ended up getting pretty plastered with a guy who graduated a year before be who happened to have married a girl I graduated with.
What's funny is that it was supposed to be a 10 year reunion, but whoever was in charge of planning it, didn't, so it actually happened 11 years after we graduated.
Another funny thing is that we were supposed to have a 15 year reunion, but it looks like somebody's dropped the ball again because it should have been this year, but I've heard nothing about it.
I'm not sure I'd have gone to the 15 anyway. The 20 maybe....or 21 or whenever somebody gets around to planning it.

I never went to a HS reunion. I kept in touch with almost all of the people I had an interest in keeping in touch with
I sort of wanted to go to my last one, which was a 10 year, but honestly it was just to see people's faces when they saw that I actually had married my HS sweetheart and that we were happy and doing well.

I think this was a key realization for me to not go to mine....most of my friends from that era I still have some sort of contact with and most were from the year earlier or the year later than me so they wouldn't be there anyway.

My 10 year I was pretty much a loser musician with nothing going on in my life and I was kind of embarrassed about it. The night before our 10 year I was playing in a local bar and a bunch of my classmates who were in town for the reunion and were complete douchebags, much like they were in high school...that cemented my decision not to go to the reunion...

I kept in touch with the people I wanted to. The rest aren't worth the time.
